Affiliate marketing is an incredible way to build multiple income streams, work on your own terms, and create financial freedom.

Whether you are looking to grow your business or one of your income streams, like affiliate marketing, there’s one simple mistake that holds so many people back from success…

They don’t tell people what they do.

I know—it sounds too obvious to be a problem. But if you’re not clearly sharing your business with others, you’re missing out on referrals, sales, and opportunities. That means you are missing out on money that is desperately trying to find you.

So, let’s talk about how to confidently put yourself out there and grow your income.

Why You Need to Talk About Your Business

Think about it—people buy from those they know, like, and trust. If no one knows you’re an affiliate marketer (or whatever products/services you offer), they can’t buy from you or refer others to you.

For example, one of my goals this year is to do more personal and leadership development workshops for businesses and nonprofits. But when I started sharing this goal with my network, I kept hearing:

“I had no idea you did that!”

That was a wake-up call. If people don’t know what you offer, they won’t think of you when an opportunity comes up. The same applies to affiliate marketing—you have to make it clear what you do and how you can help.

Easy Ways to Share Your Business

You don’t need a huge audience to succeed in business or affiliate marketing. You just need to let the right people know what you do! Here are some simple ways to start:

1. Add a Link to Your Email Signature

Your email signature is prime real estate. A simple line like “Need [Your Product/Service]? Check it out here: [Your Link]” makes it easy for people to explore what you offer.

2. Talk About It on Social Media

You don’t have to sell 24/7, but you should be mentioning your business regularly. Post about your journey, share success stories, and remind people how your products/services can help them.

3. Tell Your Friends and Network

One of my friends literally said to me, “I want to refer you business, but I need clarity on what you do.” That was my cue to make it super easy for her to help me—so I created a simple one-pager explaining my offers.

Do the same! Create a quick description (or even a social post) explaining:
✅ What you do
✅ Who you help
✅ How someone can get started with you

4. Use Your Platform (Podcast, Blog, etc.)

If you have a podcast, blog, or YouTube channel, use it to mention what you do naturally (this can include any affiliate offers). A simple “By the way, if you need X, here’s my favorite recommendation” can lead to passive income.

Confidence is Key in Sales

One of the biggest roadblocks to telling people what you do is confidence. If you hesitate to share because you’re worried about what people might think or fear rejection, you’re not alone. That’s why I created the Confidence Course—to help entrepreneurs and affiliate marketers, like you, overcome self-doubt and own your success. If you struggle with sharing your offers, this course will help you increase your confidence in less than 5 days so you can confidently grow your business. Check it out here!
